When you originally joined a party plan, mlm or direct selling company, there was a reason. Perhaps it was that you loved the product, maybe it was that you could use some extra money, perhaps it was both?
After 30, 60 or 90 days that new exciting feeling wears off and you realize that you have a choice to make.
Are you committed to working for yourself and making a business or were you just looking for some fun and quick cash? Is this a hobby or a business?
We have to be honest with ourselves. It is ok to have it as a hobby but we need to know we will never make the big bucks if it is. The people that go to convention and stand on stage did not get there because they just willed it to happen.
They got there because they worked hard at it. They worked it as a business.
Success Is A Decision
How do you get to be one of those people that walk across the stage? You must use your time wisely. Plan out your day.

- How much time each day are you going to spend building your business?
- When will that time be?
- What are you going to do during that time?
I would encourage you to find a mentor or a coach. It might be the person that sponsored you when you came in or it might be someone above them. Find someone who has achieved what you want and copy what they are doing. One of the best things about this industry is that your upline wants you to be successful. It is in their best interest to help you!!
Use Technology Tools
Now most companies provide great Technology tools that can help you build your business. These may include company videos or training on how to use social media. Use EVERYTHING that your company provides.
There is a reason the top sponsors use it and recommend it. Find out the reason and use it the way they do. If your company does not offer you tools, there are many available on the web. Ask around and find out what your leaders are doing.
Embrace old school too! A ‘people’ business does not thrive only online. Create a balance between online and offline efforts, sales and leads!
That is what the top leaders do and it will work for you too.
Be Aware
We rush through life like we are running a marathon. We are taking the kids or grand kids places, trying to get a healthy meal prepared, going to sports practice, helping with homework, cleaning, laundry, work, the list of responsibilities can go on and on.
How do you build a side business when you are so busy?
Make it a priority and be aware of who is around you. Look around as you go through your day, and when appropriate talk business!
Deciding to become a consultant is a decision that requires action. Each step of your success is determined by you. Increase your odds of success by prioritizing your business along with your other activities.
Remember that success is a decision and that walking across stage will not happen by accident but it is not that hard either!
