While there is no magic formula to getting off to a great start but there are some things you should know to succeed.

Below are six important points that will help you get started down the right path.

  1. Once your consultant kit arrives, go through it thoroughly. The more familiar you are with what’s inside, the better able you will be to explain these items when the time comes. Read EVERY piece of paper in your kit at least twice! The more you know about your business, the better.
  2. Read through your consultant business manual. Use two different colored markers to highlight important areas and items that are unclear. Make a list of the questions you wish to ask.
  3. Make a detailed list of everyone you know, including family and friends. These are the people you will probably begin selling to, so they are an important part of your early and continued success.
  4. Hold your first party with you and the host. This should take place within three weeks of joining the business. Invite everyone you know, since this will give you practice hosting your own show. You could even set up a practice show in your own home to kick off your business.
  5. Direct Sales Business Help = Success

  6. Probably the most important thing is to attend any meetings or events sponsored by your direct sales company. These will offer training, motivation and idea sharing and other help that will be very useful to you in the future. Get all the help you can from your direct sales leader. They want you to succeed so take advantage of that.
  7. Market outside friends and family. There are literally hundreds of ways to do so but an easy way to get started is to attend local commerce and business events in your community. This will give you opportunities to build up business contacts and references, which will be a very important part of your future business.

The points listed above will help you refine the sales formula that works best for you. Don’t be afraid to meet new people and try new things. Remember, selling is about adapting to new situations. These changes will bring you the success you deserve.
