Remember that there is no substitute for good hostess coaching. As a direct party sales consultant, it is essential that you provide effective and comprehensive hostess training leading into a home party.

Hostess or training should cover all aspects of a direct sales home party. From the initial invitations, to the planning, to the final preparations. You should never assume that the hostess knows the routine. Even people who have previously hosted parties need reminders on how to conduct a successful party. It is important to keep in mind that both the sales consultant and the hostess want the same thing - a successful, enjoyable, and profitable party.

Be comprehensive and go over all aspects of the party including but not limited to:

  • Go over the guest list. Make sure s/he invites 40 people.
  • Teach the host how to collect orders before the show.
  • Encourage her to encourage her friends to bring a guest.
  • Discuss the hostess gifts; keep her excitement level up. Her excitement will encourage sales.

Though parties are enjoyable and entertaining, it is important to remember that you are there to sell products.

As a general rule, the higher number of attendees at a party, the more sales you will make and the more the fun factor increases. Never limit your hostess based on the size of her house. Calm her fears about bothering friends and families, or her worries that no one may show up. After completing the guest list, have her invite everyone a few weeks prior to the party. She should then follow up one or two days prior to the event and ask them for a firm commitment.

As a direct sales consultant, high attendance at your parties will help ensure happy hosts, strong sales and repeat bookings.

It is imperative to provide comprehensive hostess training to every hostess. You are putting your time and effort into every party. Every event reflects on your reputation; make sure your hostess does her best in putting together the best party possible.

Your products sometimes sell themselves. However, you need high attendance at your parties to ensure that the products will be seen and the sales made.
